About Us

Concentric: Studies in Linguistics is a refereed, international journal published in English by the Department of English, National Taiwan Normal University. Two issues are published each year, in May and November (originally in January and July between 2006 and 2011).

Concentric: Studies in Linguistics, one of the leading journals in Taiwan, is devoted to the dissemination of research related to linguistics and applied linguistics. First published in 1964 under the title, The Concentric, the journal aimed to promote academic research in the fields of linguistics and English literature, and to provide an avenue for researchers to share results of their investigations with other researchers and practitioners.

In 1976, the journal was renamed as Studies in English Literature and Linguistics, and in 2001 was further renamed as Concentric: Studies in English Literature and Linguistics. As the quantity of research in the fields of linguistics, applied linguistics, and English literature has increased greatly in recent years, the journal has evolved into two publications. Beginning in 2004, these two journals have been published under the titles Concentric: Studies in Linguistics and Concentric: Literary and Cultural Studies. An international journal published in English, Concentric: Studies in Linguistics includes articles that focus on all aspects of theoretical and applied linguistics.

Concentric: Studies in Linguistics has been accepted for inclusion in ESCI (Emerging Sources Citation Index), Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed academic journal articles, as well as LLBA, EBSCO--Communication & Mass Media Complete, EBSCO--MLA Directory of Periodicals, and EBSCO--MLA International Bibliography. The journal is awarded as a THCI-Core journal in year 2005-2014 and is granted the scholarly journal editing subsidy from the Humanities Research Center, National Science Council, Executive Yuan.
